Microsoft exec headlines tech association luncheon

New Mexico Business Weekly - September 20, 2004

The New Mexico Information Technology and Software Association (NMITSA) has announced that Richard McAniff, vice president for Microsoft Office in Seattle, will keynote its Oct. 1 luncheon meeting in Albuquerque.

Before joining Microsoft in 1987, McAniff worked as a member of the technology staff at Sandia National Laboratories in Albuquerque. During his seven years at the Department of Energy laboratories, he worked on probability analyses for alternative fuels.

McAniff oversees a staff of more than 200 software professionals who are responsible for a variety of software tools within the Microsoft Corp.'s Office suite, including Excel and Access.

According to McAniff's biography, posted on Microsoft's Web site, he helped develop Office 97, Office 2000 and the Windows XP operating systems, among other projects, for the Redmond, Wash.-based computer software giant.

The October luncheon marks the first meeting for NMITSA under its new quarterly format. Previously, the association's main meeting would take place every month or so. NMITSA will continue to feature its monthly peer group meetings.

The October meeting with McAniff will run from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Albuquerque Marriott Uptown, located at 2101 Louisiana Blvd. NE. The cost to attend the luncheon is $25 for NMITSA members, $30 for non-members who reserve a seat before Sept. 29 and pay in advance, and $40 for those who pay at the door.
