Arlington, VA - The Information Technology Association of America (ITAA) and the Council of Regional Information Technology Associations (CRITA) today announced an alliance enhancing the ability of thousands of companies to reach governments and markets at the local, state, federal and global levels. The organizations said they will join forces in 2007 on public policy issues, programs and events of interest to both organizations’ members.

"This agreement provides IT with a nexus for growth in all arenas -- from the grass roots to the global," said ITAA President and CEO Phil Bond. "By partnering with CRITA, our companies gain valuable expertise in state and local public policy and business development through more than 40 regional IT and technology trade organizations."

Under the agreement, the two organizations will open select events to each others’ members and exchange public policy and business development expertise. Each organization also will invite its counterpart’s president to join its board of directors in an ex-officio capacity.

ITAA will offer CRITA members and the companies they represent leadership, counsel and support on international and national legislative and regulatory issues, as well as international trade missions. In exchange, CRITA’s member associations will provide thought leadership and support with respect to legislative and regulatory issues in their regions of operation.

"A global economy demands effective representation locally but also nationally and internationally," said CRITA President and CEO Joan Myers. "Considering ITAA’s federal policy advocacy and relationship with the World Information Technology and Services Alliance, this agreement represents a perfect fit for our members and the companies they represent."

The Information Technology Association of America provides global public policy, business networking, and national leadership to promote the continued rapid growth of the IT industry. ITAA consists of approximately 325 corporate members throughout the U.S. and is secretariat of the World Information Technology and Services Alliance, a global network of 67 countries' IT associations. The Association plays the leading role in issues of IT industry concern including information security, taxes and finance policy, digital intellectual property protection, telecommunications competition, workforce and education, immigration, online privacy and consumer protection, government IT procurement, human resources and e-commerce policy. ITAA members range from the smallest IT start-ups to industry leaders in the Internet, software, IT services, digital content, systems integration, telecommunications and enterprise solution fields.
