Mission
It is the mission of the New Mexico Information Technology & Software Association to make New Mexico a nationally recognized leader in the information technology and software industries, by providing focused, value-added services and initiatives. While programming is targeted to commercial enterprises that operate in the software, computer hardware, internet-related, digital media and telecommunications sectors, New Mexico's entire business community stands to significantly benefit from the NMITSA organizational presence.Although the association provides valuable networking, industry advocacy and educational services, it is committed to creating a full range of value-added member services.
NMITSA will:
• strengthen the existing Peer Networks (special interest groups)
• Enrich content and grow participation in the member meetings
• Establish quarterly IT-related conferences highlighting subject areas (e.g., cyber security, networking technologies, super computing) of interest to its members
• support the annual NMITSA meeting and IT Excellence Awards
In addition, new services will provision accurate and timely research and analyses for use by its member enterprises. Key IT industry growth indicators, IT-related wage surveys and geographic identification of IT firms will be harvested and disseminated. The association is also assisting members with marketing support for New Mexico IT businesses through its regional and national network resources.
NMITSA is preparing for the increasing complexity of high-technology issues, as well as the increasing attention paid to them by public sector decision-makers in the regulatory and legislative arenas. Accordingly, NMITSA is dedicated to becoming a public policy analysis center and advocacy voice for IT-related interests in New Mexico. Working collaboratively with other business organizations, the association will educate policy leaders on the increasingly crucial role that information technology companies play in the globally networked economy. In charting a "business-friendly" path in both the legislative and regulatory arenas, NMITSA will clearly and consistently articulate the benefits and challenges associated with spurring growth of information technology sectors.
NMITSA has been, and will continue to be, intimately involved in developing the workforce of the future in New Mexico. Its participation in this area has taken many forms, including curricula development, offering vital support for workplace fairs, and securing resources for the training of high-technology workers.
